Dear LPBC,
I pray you are well today and staying safe in the midst of some this messy weather. When we see the snow we should be reminded of how God has cleansed us of our sins by the sacrifice of Jesus.
Isaiah 1 v18 reminds how God purifies us and makes us white as snow.
1 v18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
We should praise God for such purification found in Christ!
Recap and Announcements-
We had a wonderful Lord’s Day on Sunday to begin the year. In Sunday School, I began the first half of a refresher on evangelism. Come this Sunday at 9:30 A.M. for the second half. Let’s get focused in 2015 on the Great Commission! We should get focused on making Jesus known and worshiped by all. Pray for this! Pray that God would use us to bring people to himself.
Speaking of Sunday School. Could you use help with your personal devotional time? On January 18th we will start a new class in Sunday School to help you grow in your private time with the Lord. Join us as we begin this new class called, Meeting with God. See you there.
In our service we praised God because He has chosen to reveal Himself. We thought about the priority of expositional preaching. An expositional sermon is a sermon that focuses on a portion of Scripture and seeks to communicate in a clear fashion that the point of the text is the point of the message.
God has spoken, therefore, we should open the Bible and have it preached. The Bible gives life and shapes our church to resemble God's character when we do. Praise God for the Scriptures!
Speaking of expositional sermons… Lord willing, I will be back in John 5 this Sunday. Read John 5 v31-47 in preparation and please pray for me and the church.
After the sermon, we concluded the service by observing and celebrating the Lord’s Supper. This is always a sweet time to reflect upon Jesus. I love to see us stand together and renew our vows to the Lord and to one another.
Afterwards, many of us enjoyed a potluck luncheon hosted by the Linton’s. Thank you Sam and Lisa! It was a great time to fellowship in your home.
