When a man (like Herod) or a woman (like Herodias) divorces their spouse in order to marry another, this is not the circumstance for which Moses’ words about divorce was intended.
On the contrary, this is abusing the Law of Moses to commit adultery. But publicly, Jesus used the Pharisees’ trap to continue to talk about his own agenda.
